It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Marie Bateman of Columbus, Georgia, born in Redwood, New York, who passed away on December 16, 2022, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Harold Flath and Laura Zimmer Flath; her former husband E. Timothy Barber; her husband John T. Bateman; her children, Brenda Lee Barber, Richard "Todd" Barber (Kristen Eisenhauer) of Boston, MA and Ann Chapman (Gregory Chapman) of Columbus, GA; her brother H. Leonard Flath of Albany; and her grandchildren, Emily Anne Chapman, Anna Belle and Timothy Jacob "Jake" Barber. She was also cherished by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and 3 stepsons.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmanuel Congregational Church, 119 S. Hamilton St. Watertown, NY 13601, where Ruth was a choir member for 25 years, or Striplin Terrace UMC, 4170 Striplin Terrace Dr. Columbus, GA 31909 where she was a member for the last 9 years.
