She was predeceased by: her parents, Sherod Elmo Sims and Ellie Mae Easter; her son James Ray Tipton; her husband Ravon Tipton; and her siblings, Dorothy Mildred Ford (Jack), Itha Ryan Sims (Audine), Mary Sue Ford (Cecil), Charles Elmo Sims, Sr. (Galdys) and Frances Boyd Ford (Bud).
She is survived by: her daughters, Ellie Ruth Pate (Mike) of West Point and Sheila Fay Tipton of Columbus, Georgia; her grandchildren, Michael Lewis (Maria), Virginia Hamilton (John), Wesley Tipton and Alan Tipton; and her daughter-in-law Judy Tipton of Three Rivers, Michigan.. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, St. Elmo Room (4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907). A graveside service was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Parkhill Cemetery (4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907).
