He was predeceased by: his parents, Richey C. Sims and Mattie Lou Rice Sims. He is survived by: his wife Catherine Ashworth Sims; his children, Taylor Sims of Dahlonega and Ella Fields (Jackson) of Jefferson; his granddaughter Erin Fields; and his sister Sally Gibby of Douglasville.
The family has requested to omit flowers and donations be made to the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
