He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Edwards; his parents, George Edwards and Mabel Edwards; and his siblings, James Edwards and Shirley Harrington.
He is survived by: his children, Lynn Ring, Shelley Foster, Connie Bunn, Kevin Edwards and Scott Woodall; and his sister Debbie Stover (Annette Medvee). He is also survived by spouses; and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On August 14, 2004, he was presented the Living Legend Award for his contribution to Gospel Music from the Grand Ole Gospel.
