He was predeceased by: his parents, David Menteer and Mary Menteer. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Menteer; his daughters, Linzie Menteer and Amanda Boswell (Travis Cole); his grandchildren, Judah Boswell and Molly Cole; his siblings, Mike Menteer, Rick Menteer, Brenda Menteer, Doug Menteer, Angie Francis and Ralph Combs, Jr.; and his mother-in-law Mary Evans.

“I'm so sorry James that life has ended this way for you. All so Deborah and Jim could be together.. from my understanding they had been seeing each for quite some time. Right under both of our noses. I hope someone looks into your death as a homicide. I know you told me you suspected them of having an affair and you were concerned..you would think you and Deborah's grown children would have seen the writing on the wall. Maybe the police will look thru you, Deborah and Jim's phone records.justice”
