He was predeceased by: his siblings, Alpha Stokes, Jacqueline Mooney, Rev. Levi Chavous, Miller Chavous and Charles Chavous.
He is survived by: his wife Juanita Chavous; his children, Carmen "Jeannie" Jernigan (Keith), Walter "Dub" Chavous (Monique) and Alan "Lance" Chavous (Alessandra); his grandchildren, Courtney Chavous, Lauren Chavous, Jay Chavous, Clark Chavous, Keshon Jernigan and Marcus Jernigan; his great grandchildren, Beckham Chavous and Ariella McGrew; and his sister Betty Pearson.
