He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Phillips and Lidia Edith Phillips; his wife Jennie Elizabeth Phillips; and his siblings, Frederick C. Phillips, Elizabeth Stark and Lois M. Parsons.
He is survived by: his son Dr. Robert S. Phillips (Professor); his grandchildren, Joseph S. Phillips and Caroline B. Batson of Athens, GA; his great grandchildren, Elijah Batson, Lily Phillips and Sunny Phillips; and his stepgreat-grandson Jarrod Batson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Rainey Family Funeral Services (1415 E 24th Ave, Cordele, GA 31010-0416). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Chapel of Rainey Funeral Services (1415 E 24th Ave, Cordele, GA 31015). A burial will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Andersonville National Cemetery.
