David leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. David’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew David will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Mauney and Louise Mauney; and his brother Thomas Mauney. He is survived by: his wife Sharon; his daughter Jessamine; his son-in-law Scott Cantey; and his siblings, Bill Mauney (Lynn) and Beth Dayton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home (175 VFW Rd, Cornelia, GA 30531). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Cleveland First Baptist Church (25 Church St, Cleveland, GA 30528). A burial will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 3:15 PM to 3:30 PM at the Gateway Memory Park (229 Townview Dr, Cleveland, GA 30528).
