She was predeceased by : her parents, William Volley Speed and Lucy Mae Walker; her former life partner Shaderic Everett Gamble Jr.; her son Shaderic Everett Gamble III; and her husband Charles Purtle.

She is survived by : her daughter Elaine Waller (Wayne Waller) of Cornelia, GA; her grandchildren, Matthew Waller (Ashley), Adam Waller and Melissa Gamble; and her great grandchildren, Rebecca Ledford, Benjamin Ledford and Paisley Waller.
