He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Jud Lester Pitts and Zadie Addis Pitts; his daughter JanDon Ivie Pitts; his siblings, John Lester Pitts, Mildred Pitts Ayers, James Clyde Pitts and Myrtice Pitts Hunter; and his parents-in-law, J. T. and Nettie Ivie.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Ivie Pitts of Cornelia; his children, Rhonda (Michael Cleveland), Allison (Steve Massey), Dondra Batson, Donald Shane Pitts and Jud David Pitts; his grandchildren, Atticus and Esmae; his siblings-in-law, Theron Ayers, Jane Murray, Jean Graves, Cathey Mangum and Sandra Ivie; and his caregiver Debra Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home (175 VFW Rd, Cornelia, GA 30531). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home (175 VFW Rd, Cornelia, GA 30531).
