She was predeceased by: her parents, John Grimes and Eathel Grimes; her spouse R. V. Smith; and her grandson Jeremy. She is survived by: her children, Wayne Smith (Carol) of Newton, Sue Smith (Brian) of Cedar Rapids, Gene Smith (Lynisa) of Newton and Melissa Williamson (Bobby) of Conyers, Georgia. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
