John Dearing Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Dearing (Covington, Georgia), who passed away on May 15, 2026 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Perino Marcellin Dearing and Hortense Braswell Dearing. He is survived by: his wife Gail Dearing of Atlanta; his children, John M. Dearing (Alice) of Cockeysville, MD, Rob Dearing (Molly) of Jackson, WY, Katie Dearing Newton (Boyd) of Atlanta and Betsy Dearing Berry (Barry) of Atlanta; his grandchildren, John Jackson Dearing III (Jack), Elizabeth Dearing, Cate Berry, Sally Berry, Riley Newton, Abby Newton, Sam Dearing and Susie Dearing; and his brother Lin Dearing of Clemson, SC.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (1169 Clark St SW, Covington, GA 30014). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Covington (1169 Clark St SW, Covington, GA 30014). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church (3003 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30327).
