He was predeceased by: his parent Romey; and his grandmother Henson. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Brooks; and his children, Tammy (Ben Bird), Charles Dwayne Brooks, Tony Brooks, Kimberly Lawhorn and Donald (Kim Brooks). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
