He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Gillis and Pauline Underwood Gillis; his siblings, James Gillis, Harvey Lee Gillis, Beecher Ernest "Pert" Gillis and Taunce Gillis Smith; and his half-brother Elijah Leslie Meeks.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Anne Morgan Gillis; his son Raymond Gregory Gillis (Valerie); his granddaughters, Lindsey Gillis Hohman (Seth) and Kristen Gillis Walker (David); and his great grandchildren, Turner Lee Hohman, Quinn Raylee Hohman, Amelia Noelle Walker and Noah Gregory Walker. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
