She was predeceased by: her parents, Francisco Merced and Inocencia Báez; and her siblings, Veneranda "Vene", Angelina "Lilí", Mariana, Luis, Máximo, Maximino and Clotilde.
She is survived by: her husband Víctor Otero; her daughters, Gladys Otero-Wallace (Ben), Nancy Otero Guzmán (José) and Daisy Otero Martín (Vladimir); her siblings, Angélica "Geca" Merced, Ramón Merced and Julia Merced (Julita); and her grandchildren, Rochelle, Darelle, José Hommy, Nahommy, Homary, Arnold and Víctor. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
