He was predeceased by : his parents, James Marcus Merck and Edna Black Merck. He is survived by : his children, Nathan Merck, Megan Mullinax (David) and Ethan Merck; his siblings, James Merck (Mylinda), Delores Jones (Van), Judy Myers (Jimmy) and Robbie Gentry (Ronald); his girlfriend Pamela Merck; his grandchildren, Autumn and Cathan Merck; his stepdaughter Tracy Franklin (Marcus); his stepgrandchildren, Tiffany Franklin and Zachery Franklin; and the mothers of children, Donna Skaggs and Angela Carlan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 10th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home (2068 US-19, Dahlonega, GA 30533). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home (2068 US-19, Dahlonega, GA 30533). A burial was held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
