He was predeceased by: his father Walter Shoemake; his wife Rena Shoemake (Billie); his daughter Denise Shoemake; and his brother Warren Shoemake. He is survived by: his daughters, Renee (Larry Sutton) and Annette (Dean White); his grandchildren, Kim, Jeremy Boleman, Mark, Taylor Sutton, Rodney, Jenny White, Deana, Thomas Fountain, Stephanie White and Shane Shoemake; his siblings, Edna Graham, Wilma Raines, Martha Martin, Raymond Shoemake (Patricia) and Charles Shoemake; and his niece Pamela Wilson. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
