He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Ann Schell and Alfred Schell; his brother Barry Schell (Pat); his nephew Wayne Schell; his niece Laura Schell; and his mother-in-law Nancy Runyan.

He is survived by: his wife Tammie; his children, Kyle Schell (Alex) and Ashley Schell; his father-in-law Larry "Pops" Runyan; his siblings, David (Selina Hancock), Russell (Kelly Schell) and William "Peanut" (Susan Schell); and his sisters-in-law, Niki McConnell (Scott McConnell), Michelle Runyan and Candi Snipes. He is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, and 2 great great nieces.
