He is survived by: his wife Mary Poe Gifford (Pat); his children, Donna Lynn Moore, Judy Gifford (Jude), Kathy Gordon, Susan Laurie Gifford and James Earnest Gifford; and his sons-in-law, Brian Gordon and Robert Frey. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
