He was predeceased by: his father Walt Saunders; his brother Blake Saunders; his daughter-in-law Candy Kirk; and his granddaughter Ashley Kirk. He is survived by: his mother Edna Saunders; his children, Patrick Kirk (JoHannah), Lane Kirk (Jeanette) and Kim Kirk; his sisters, Judy Burns and Kathy Janice; his grandchildren, Sarah Day, Brittany Collins, Allen Kirk (Brittany), Summerlyn Collins, Reagan Kirk, Sean Mosley, Isabelle Mosley and Leann Tankersley; and his great grandchildren, Jayce Day, Emmalynn Day, Dawson Connell, Kamryn Kirk and Dalton Connell.
