He was predeceased by: his parents, Lon Dodson and Bonnie Dodson; his daughter Eva Jeanette Reno; his siblings, Johnny Dodson, David Dodson and Shirley Puckett; and his son-in-law Doug Dillard.
He is survived by: his wife Melba Ruth Cochran Dodson; his children, Tommy William Dodson of Dalton, GA and Renita Lynn Dillard of Chatsworth, GA; his son-in-law Larry Reno of Calhoun, GA; and his siblings, Jimmy Dodson of Dalton, GA, Kay Dodson Wilson of Chatsworth, GA, Edith Haynes of Dalton, GA and Jane Sheldrick of Chatsworth, GA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Ponders Funeral Home - Dalton (138 Melrose Dr, Dalton, GA 30721). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Ponders Melrose Chapel (138 Melrose Dr, Dalton, GA 30721).
