He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Keener and Marion Keener Webb; his former wife Sally Hudson Keener; his son Loren Keener; his grandson Andrew Pettigrew; and his siblings, Robert Keener, Randy Keener and Jean Lieb.
He is survived by: his wife Diana Keener of Cohutta; and his children, James Russell Keener of Dalton, Dallas Keener of Tennessee, Jamie Edwards of Dalton, Sally Pettigrew (Daniel) of Conway and Rebecca Adams (Randy) of Jacksonville, Florida.. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the United Memorial Gardens (2738 Cleveland Hwy, Dalton, GA 30721).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Jim's honor to Cohutta First Baptist Church or The Alzheimer's Association.
