It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Nushawg Hamilton (Dalton, Georgia), who passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Oliver C. Nushawg and Donna Macey Nushawg; her husband David Downing Hamilton, Sr.; her son David Downing Hamilton, Jr.; and her siblings, Donald Nushawg (Jane), Robert "Bob" Nushawg and Doris Nushawg Brooks (Frank).
She is survived by: her son Dana Fields Hamilton of Dalton, Georgia; her granddaughters, Katie Hamilton Bonjean (Clayton), Rebecca Hamilton Durkin (Tim) of Jacksonville and Dr. Hayley Hamilton Shell (Rob) of Nashville, Tennessee; and her great grandchildren, Frank, Ava Kate Bonjean, Finn, Clare, Piper Durkin and Hugh Shell. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
