It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Tate Banks of Dalton, Georgia, born in Ellijay, Georgia, who passed away on April 18, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Dennis Banks and Ola Banks; his former life partner Juanita Hayes Banks; his wife Faye Banks; his children, Tony Johnson and Cindy Ensley; and his brothers, Donny Banks and Arnold Lee Banks.

He is survived by : his children, Chris Banks (Shannon) of Dalton, GA, Mike Johnson of Winder, GA, Michelle Seawright (Jody) of Statham, GA, Lisa Ledford (Alan) of Dalton, GA and Terri Jones of Statham, GA; his son-in-law Evans Ensley of Ellijay, GA; his siblings, D. L. Banks (Wilma), Virginia Wyatt (Jackie) and Margaret Weathers (Johnny); and his grandchildren, Adam Banks (Mandy), Matthew Banks (Lindsay), Emily Beard (Klayton), Carli, Cole Ledford, Jodi Johnson, Dustin Seawright, Riley Seawright, Jake Ruark, Peyton Seawright and Ashleigh Willoughby (Billy Joe). He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Ponders Funeral Home (138 Melrose Dr, Dalton, GA 30721).
