He was predeceased by: his parents, James Poag and Verdie Poag; and his wife Mona Poag. He is survived by: his children, Jay Poag (Amy) of North Carolina, Leigh Poag Stone (Peter) of Dalton and Preston Poag (Bridgette) of Cartersville; his siblings, Polly Montgomery of Dalton and Jackie Poag of Dalton; his grandchildren, Jamie Pack Asheville North (Graysen), Savannah Stone Atlanta (Justin), Alexis Herren Savanah (Michael), Pressley Trejo Cartersville (Kyle), Brandon Poag (Sarah), Preston Poag Jr. and Jacob Poag; his great grandchildren, Palmer James Trejo, Tatum Herren and James Baker Poag; his brothers, Charles Judy Poag and Johnny Poag; his great-uncle CJ; and his aunt Deecie Poag.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Julian Peeples Funeral Home (2801 Cleveland Hwy, Dalton, GA 30721). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
