He was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie Cox Fields; his parents, Willie Fields and Lizzie Collins Fields; his son Robert Joe "Bob" Fields Jr.; his siblings, Arle Fields, Benny Fields, Tom Fields, Eli Fields, Jessie Fields, Eddie Fields, Silas Fields, Ethel Craft, Cassey Fields, Sally Miller and Mary Belle Gazaway; and his granddaughter Tabatha Kokinda.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Wood, Cindy Farmer (Randy), Korena Ward (John) and Katherine Barnette (Lamar); his brother Waymon Fields; and his grandchildren, Amber Plott, Aundrea "Aundi" Woodall Porter, Matthew Worley, Jeffery DeSpain, Wayne Caldwell, Katherine Caldwell, Billy Caldwell, Lacey Teem and Kasi Barnette. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
