She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Lee Teate and Myrtle Wiggins Teate; her husband Larry Hagan; and her siblings, Dennis Teate and Willie Merle Arnold.
She is survived by: her children, Hilda Duckworth (David) of Cordele, Georgia and Douglas Holcombe of Chrysler, Alabama; her grandchildren, Linda Hawkins (Scott) of Cordele, Michael Holcombe (Valerie) of Georgiana and Brandy Lee of Cordele, Georgia; her great grandchildren, Shane Holcombe of Opp, Marcus Miller (Sara) of Dawson, Easton Stokes of Bronwood, Jaci Hawkins of Toccoa, Drew Hawkins of Cartersville, Jeff Hawkins (Julia) of Arnold and Brandon Hawkins of Tifton, Georgia; her great great grandchildren, Hattie Grace Holcombe, Lily Rae Hawkins and Ash Hawkins; and her sister Evelyn Smith of Andalusia. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A graveside service celebrating Joyce's life will be held at Parrott City Cemetery on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a time of fellowship and remembrance at the home of Scott and Linda Hawkins beginning at 1:00 p.m. In honor of Melba Joyce's memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
