He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Monkus and Mattleen Holbrooks Smith; and his sister Carol Crumbley. He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his son Anthony; his daughter-in-law Jonna Monkus; his daughter Crystal; his son-in-law Cameron Burt; his grandchildren, Seth, Becca Stowers, Brandon Monkus, Chris, Brianna Hamby, Ethan Burt, Prestan Burt, Andrew Monkus and Heather Burt; his great grandchildren, Slaton Stowers and Arden Hamby; and his siblings, Barbara Dotson (Jerry) of Ellijay, Roy Monkus of Dawsonville, Deborah Foster (Alan) of Ellijay, Freida Casper of Blue Ridge and Mike Monkus of Ellijay.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bearden Funeral Home (334 Hwy 53, Dawsonville, GA 30534). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Harmony Baptist Church (1575 Harmony Church Rd, Dawsonville, GA 30534).
