He was predeceased by: his mother Shirley Jackson Shirley; his siblings, J. L. "Byrd" Shirley, Leslie Shirley and Rhonda Mae Padgett; and his niece Brittany Mae Whitt.
He is survived by: his daughter Amanda "Doodle Bug" Shirley; his son-in-law James Cox; his grandson Bobby Dale Cox; his father Lester Shirley; and his sisters, Maria (Larry Revella), Dibbie Whitt, Penny (Kenneth Evans), Kaye (Wayne Neighbours), Kelley (Jordan Reece), Carmen (Keith Roberts) and Jamie Shirley.
