It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jan Hamilton (Dawsonville, Georgia), born in Cumming, Georgia, who passed away on October 18, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Hughes and Frances Hughes; her siblings, Jay Hughes, Gene Hughes and Cheryl Cole; and her nephew Ryan Nix.
She is survived by: her son Vincent Hamilton (Lauren Hamilton) of Atlanta, GA; her sister Julie Nix of Dawsonville, GA; her sibling's children, Wyatt Nix (Stefanie Nix) of Cumming, GA and Ciera Cole (Kevin Park) of Dallas, TX; her great-niece Mya Nix of Cumming, GA; her niece Cara Nix; her great-nephew Ryan Chayden Nix of Bedford, KY.; her brother-in-law George Tod Cole of Simi Valley, CA; her friends, John Simpson, Pam Gilleland and Henny Dulaney; Heather and Jim Wasnick of Atlanta, GA.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Bearden Funeral Home (334 Hwy 53, Dawsonville, GA 30534). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery (1575 Harmony Church Rd, Dawsonville, GA 30534).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the University of North Georgia Eagle Fund, which provides support for members of the Corps of Cadets who demonstrate leadership potential, qualities of high moral character, and are actively pursuing a commission in the U.S. Armed Forces [unggive.org/eagle-fund].
