With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Davis Southerland Jr. (Decatur, Georgia), who passed away on October 3, 2025 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Southerland and Lucille Southerland; his sister Jerry Jean Tedder; and his former wife Janice Spalding. He is survived by: his wife Marlene Southerland; his children, Linda Jones, David Southerland, Randy Southerland (Terri), Terri Southerland and Susan Acklin (Tim); his grandchildren, John Crain, Corey Southerland, Tyler Southerland, Jordan Southerland, Kiernan Acklin and Trey Acklin; his great grandchild Julia Southerland; and his siblings, Hal Southerland, Patricia Clements and Rita Standefer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory (2773 N Decatur Rd, Decatur, GA 30033). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, a cause close to DJ's heart.
