He was predeceased by: his son Maurice Canty; and his siblings, Willie Jack Norman, Leonard Charles Norman (Christine), Ima Jean Chapman, El Nora Norman and Joe Norman.

He is survived by: his son Michael Deon Canty; his grandchildren, Mikaela Denise Canty, Asia Renee Canty, Michael Deandre Canty Jr., Samuel Everson Jr., Sheldon Everson, Deandre Michael Canty and Autumn Patsy Canty; his siblings, Wyvonia Lipscomb, Marion Norman (Mary), Teresa Norman (Joe Norman), Sam Norman (Michelle), David Norman, Nelson Norman III (Kim), Phyllis White (Daniel), Bernice Davis (Caple), Ramona Wilson (Avery) and Lee Andrew Norman; and his close friends, Reverend Charlie Frank Stembridge, Catherine, George Penn, Reverend Jarvis Hines Sr. and Earnest Tuggle. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
