He was predeceased by: his parents, William Isaac "Bill" Smith and Sadie Elizabeth Chitwood Smith; and his siblings, Sara Whitfield, Tommy Smith of Arthur, R. A, Junior Faye Smith and Earl Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Marcus Smith of Demorest; his son Brian; his daughter-in-law Tonya Smith; his granddaughters, Mary Ellen Smith and Rachel Smith; and his brother Bobby J. Smith. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of treasured friends.
