He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Lott Atkinson, Sr. and Mary E. Moon Atkinson; his son Yancey Duane Atkinson; and his siblings, Milton Atkinson, Donnie Atkinson and Verna Sue Kendall.
He is survived by: his daughter Sheila Smith Carter; his siblings, Ronald Atkinson, Billy Atkinson, Bernice Atkinson and Betty Sue Crawford; his granddaughter Kelsee Leggett; his great grandchild Karson Hill; his cousins, Linda Woodson and Pam Sherrell; and his friend Wilbur Dykes.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Denton City Cemetery.
