He was predeceased by: his sons, Guillermo Rivas and Francisco Rivas. He is survived by: his wife Maria A Acevedo-Rivas of Douglas, Georgia; his children, Jose Antonio Rivas of Douglas, Isaias Rivas of Douglas, Humberto Rivas, Jaimie Rivas of Douglas, Benigno Rivas of Douglas, Salvador Rivas of Douglas, Georgia, Maria Elena Rivas of Douglas and Refugio Rivas of Arkansas; his brothers, Salvador Rivas of Mexico, Rafael Rivas of Mexico and Fidel Rivas of California; Refugio Rivas of California. He is also survived by 35 Grandchildren and Six Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home (201 N Peterson Ave, Douglas, GA 31533). A rosary was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at the St. Paul's Catholic Church (4178 US-441, Douglas, GA 31535).
