He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry Brooks Merritt and Reba Hutchison Merritt Davis; his grandson Kenneth Chad Merritt; his daughter-in-law Angie Sears Merritt; his brothers, James Herman Merritt and H. B. Merritt; and his nephew Jimmy Brooks Merritt.
He is survived by : his wife Betty Sue Lott Merritt of Douglas, GA.; his children, Kenneth Merritt (Angie) of Douglas, GA, Tina Kirkland (Daren) of Nicholls, GA and Neil Merritt (Cheryl) of Ambrose, GA; his sister Sue Deems (Dinky) of Nicholls, GA.; his nephew Andy Merritt (Cynthia) of Douglas, GA; his grandchildren, Erik Merritt (Nicole), Grant Merritt (Blakelee), Katie Butts (Josh), Kayla (Jason), Whiddon, Christopher Merritt (Raquel), Macy Caroline Kirkland, Ashley Ellis and Warren Spivey (Lindsey); and his great grandchildren, Chaddon, Olivia Merritt, Hudson Merritt, Lily, Joseph Butts, Embry, Eason Whiddon, Carson, Reina Merritt and Gatlin Hall. He is also survived by Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins.
