He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Jim" Carter and Lou Ellen Joyner Carter; his wife Kathy Bennett Carter; his son Van Carter, Jr.; and his siblings, Gary Carter and Phyllis Moon.
He is survived by: his son Barry James Carter (Morgan) of Douglas, Georgia; his grandchildren, Kaden Carter, Audrea Carter, Tanner Carter and William Carter; and his siblings, Derrell Carter (Jenny) of Douglas, Georgia and Debby Moore (Dennis) of Blackshear, Georgia. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
The inurnment will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Satilla Memorial Gardens (5701 US-441, Douglas, GA 31535). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at the same location.
