He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald L. Penney and Mildred Higgins Penney; his wife Peggy Powell Penney; his son Matt Penney; his brother Larry Penney; his sister-in-law Janice Powell; and his nephew Scott Penney.
He is survived by: his children, Craig E. Penney (Shaunta) and Laura Moody (Shane); his grandchildren, Whitney Penney (Nathan Davis), Erica Penney, Levi Penney, Skylar Penney and Gracie Moody; his great grandchild Brody Penney; his sister Kaye Penney; and his sister-in-law Kathleen Penney.
In lieu of flowers it was Gene's request that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in his memory.
