It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marie Akin of Douglasville, Georgia, who passed away on April 1, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband John Akin; her parents, Roy Kilburn and Helen Kilburn; her brother Roger Kilburn; and her sister-in-law Jean.
She is survived by: her sons, Roy Akin (Joy) and Richard Akin (Susan); her grandchildren, Jake Akin (Rachel) and Emily Frey (Harrison); and her great grandchildren, Lexi, Sadie Frey, Bricelyn, Maggie, Lilah and Walker Akin. She is also survived by mother to her two sons.
If so inclined, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Food Ministry at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 731 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia 30308, where Marie helped serve the homeless for many years.
