He is survived by: his wife Janice Lee Fox Matthews; his children, Donna V. Matthews Mann (Vic), Cindy R. Spooner (James Jr.), Douglas D. Matthews, Rayburn E. Matthews, Jr. and Raymond J. Matthews; his grandchildren, Christina L. Miller (Robert), James O. Spooner, III, Luke R. Spooner (Guadalupe), Joseph O. Spooner, Rachael F. Spooner, Rebekah H. Spooner and Sarah R. L. Spooner; and his great grandchild Luke R. Spooner, Jr.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
