He was predeceased by: his wife Jean Beard; his children, Nelda Rose Skinner and Norman Keith Beard; his grandson Ethan Skinner; and his sister Purity Mae Martise.
He is survived by: his children, Shelby Beard, Jr. (June), Lori Chatham (Aubrey) and Deborah Leavy (Gary); and his great grandchildren, David Morrow and Shawn Morrow. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren.
