He was predeceased by: his wife Eloyce Giles Hooks; his sons, Daniel Carl Hooks and David Nelson Hooks; and his sisters, Francis Hooks Kea, Margaret Hooks Thompson and Nina Hooks McCutcheon.
He is survived by: his daughter Mary McCollister Finch; and his grandchildren, Daniel Carl Hooks, Jr., JoBett Hooks Smith, Porter Watson McCollister, Matthew Flanders McCollister, John Chappel McCollister and Carla Eloyce Pittman. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
