He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Powell and Alma Powell of Macon, Georgia.; his sister Jean Powell Brown; his daughter Elaine Holmes; and his stepchildren, Wendy D. Marich and Michael D. Scales.
He is survived by: his children, Roxie Powell, Donna Denton, Stephanie Kapp (Todd) and Herman Powell, Jr. (Ashley); and his stepson Clifton Scales (Sheila). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
