She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward "Nooks" Murkerson and Lydia Wood Murkerson; and her siblings, Sue M. Huntley, William Murkerson, Deborah Murkerson Fountain and Jean Murkerson.
She is survived by: her children, Lindsay Owens (Ryan Smiley) of Midway and Caleb Owens (Brittany) of Dublin, Georgia.; her granddaughter Evie Albritton; and her sisters, Ann M. Avant and Judy Murkerson-Segura. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Townsend Brothers Funeral Home (215 W Jackson St, Dublin, GA 31021). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel (215 W Jackson St, Dublin, GA 31021). A burial will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at the Snowhill Baptist Church Cemetery (2561 Snow Hill Rd, Cadwell, GA 31009).
