She was predeceased by: her parents, James Lee Whitaker and Janie Arde White Whitaker; her husband James E. Townsend, Sr.; and her siblings, James White Whitaker, Janet Whitaker King and Carolyn Whitaker Tankersley.
She is survived by: her children, Deborah Vestal (Mike) and Jim Townsend (Camille); her grandsons, Michael Vestal (Amber) and Matthew Vestal (Kristen); her great grandchildren, Sam Vestal, Owen Vestal, Mary Katelyn Vestal, Caroline Vestal, Jack Vestal, Will Vestal and Luke Vestal; and her caregivers, Linda Coney, Bernice Odum and Chathamae Clark. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Dublin, Montrose Baptist Church or to the Gideons International.
