We bid farewell to Maxine Carey (Dublin, Georgia), born in Hazlehurst, Georgia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 16, 2026 at the age of 86. Maxine touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Wilson and Daisy Brooks Wilson; her husbands, John F. Britt and Howard "Pete" Warren; and her sister JoAnn Smith.
She is survived by: her children, John Russell Britt (Julie) of Peachtree City and Melinda Lewis Carr of Dublin; her grandchildren, John Russell Britt, Jr. (Ashton), Nichole Strickland (Lee), Dana Hall (Clay) and Christina Hibbs (Taylor); and her great grandchildren, Dawson Strickland, Joanna Strickland, Leah Hall, Kinsley Hall and Sterling Britt.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice or to Soul (Serving Others Unconditional Love/link provided) a non-profit that was near and dear to Maxine's heart, as it was founded at UGA by her granddaughter, Christina.
