He was predeceased by : his parents, Ozzie Howard Haralson and Mary Etta Waters Haralson; his former life partner Kimple Haralson; and his brother-in-law Herb Mullis. He is survived by : his siblings, George Haralson, Ozie Haralson, Faye Allen, David Haralson (Barbara), Paula Williams (Bobby), Jim Haralson (Barbara) and Ted Haralson; his siblings-in-law, Roger Mullis (Sue) and Sheirlyn Cox (Dave); his wife Mercedes Haralson; his daughters, Carol Haralson and Kathy; his grandchildren, Michelle Snay (Scott), Leigh Crammer (Robby), Brandy Thompson, Stephanie Barton, Jay Thompson, Richard Murphy, Michael Jones (Carin), Kim Clark (Mark), Cliff Lowery (Ashley), Bryan Harvill (Malorie) and Michael Harvill (Nicole); his nieces, Anna Powell and Leigh Potter; and his grandsons, Chase Lowery, Kyle Lowery and Mark Clark.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the New Bethel Baptist Church (3051 GA-257, Dublin, GA 31021). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Ramah Cemetery (2778 GA-57, Gordon, GA 31031).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks, that contributions in memory of Richard, be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959 or to Shriners Children's, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605.
