She was predeceased by: her parents, Thelma Massey Newton and Emory Eugene "Gene" Newton; her siblings, Michael Newton and Gail Kidwell; and her husband Jack Doherty.
She is survived by: her children, Kevin Joseph Doherty (Ashley Eubanks Doherty) of Grovetown, Georgia and Katie Ryan Doherty of Portland, Oregon; her grandchildren, Taylor Ann Doherty and Landon Joseph Doherty; and her pet Marley.
