He is survived by: his wife Bessie Ann Hill Gartrell; his children, Eric Gartrell of Alabama and Kassioteia Gilchrist (Nabruce) of McCormick, SC; his siblings, Jessie Martin, Sue of Elberton and Peggy Jenkins of Washington; and his siblings-in-law, Lena Gartrell, Hattie Gartrell, Mary, Lonnie Saddler, Beverly Hill, Willie Hill and Calvin Hill. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.
