He was predeceased by: his mother Alice Faye Beasley Erwin; his wife Cynthia Lynn "Cindy" Todd Erwin; and his stepmother Julia Dixon Herndon Erwin. He is survived by: his son Michael Shane Erwin, II of Carlton, GA; his stepchildren, James Rodney Major of Elberton, GA, Robert Dale Major of Elberton, GA, Melissa Richey of Calhoun Falls, SC and Chrissy Lynn Richey of Calhoun Falls, SC; his father Robert Edward "Bob" Erwin; and his sisters, Debbie Erwin Ray and Robin Erwin Milburn. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Forest Hills Memorial Park.
